What We Do

Our work covers the full ownership cycle: acquiring the right companies, owning them with discipline, developing stronger operations, and completing strategic transactions when the time is right.

01

Acquire

We acquire companies with established demand, sound economics, strong underlying potential, and clear opportunities for better execution.

02

Own

We hold good businesses for as long as continued ownership remains the right outcome. We do not operate under a predetermined exit timeline.

03

Develop

We work hands-on in selected portfolio companies to improve commercial performance, management structure, operating systems, reporting, accountability, decision-making, and market execution.

04

Transact

We manage strategic exits from our own holdings and selectively undertake sell-side M&A engagements where our operating and transaction experience can improve the process and outcome.

Ownership

Built for Active Ownership

LXN is the Lexén family's privately held investment group. Our activities include control acquisitions, long-term holdings, selected minority investments, and strategic transactions.

We are active owners, not passive financiers.

We invest in companies where our capital and direct involvement can create meaningful value. In selected portfolio companies, we work closely with boards and management teams to strengthen operating structure, commercial execution, reporting, accountability, and the systems required for continued growth.

Our involvement goes beyond providing capital. We work to understand how a company operates from end to end, identify what is limiting performance, and help implement the changes required for its next stage.

We are not tied to a fixed ownership period. Strong businesses can remain part of the portfolio for the long term. When a strategic transaction creates the better outcome, we are prepared to execute it.

LXN is led from Switzerland, with business interests across Europe and North America. Investments, acquisitions, and transactions associated with LXN may be undertaken through dedicated legal entities in the relevant jurisdictions.

Each portfolio company retains its own management and operating accountability. LXN works through the relevant ownership and governance structure and becomes directly involved where stronger execution, operating systems, or leadership support can materially improve performance.

Depending on the situation, we may work through the board, alongside management, or in a clearly defined operating or executive role.

Our strongest fit is often a company with a good product, established demand, or clear market potential where the operating and commercial structure has not kept pace with the opportunity.

We begin by understanding how the business actually functions from end to end. We then identify the systems, decisions, responsibilities, and operating routines that need to improve.

We do not apply the same playbook to every company. The level and form of our involvement are determined by what the business actually needs. The objective is not to add unnecessary corporate structure. It is to build an organization that operates with greater clarity, speed, discipline, and independence.

Our work may include

  • 01Operating Model and Organizational StructureDesigning how the company should operate, how functions work together, and where responsibility should sit.
  • 02Process Design and DocumentationDocumenting core processes, removing unnecessary steps, and making execution more consistent and transferable.
  • 03Roles, Decision Rights, and AccountabilityDefining who owns each result, who has authority to make decisions, and how performance is reviewed.
  • 04KPIs, Management Reporting, and Operating CadenceBuilding reliable reporting, measurable targets, recurring management reviews, and clear follow-up.
  • 05Operating Systems, Workflows, and EfficiencyImproving how information, decisions, and work move through the company so the organization can perform with less friction.
  • 06Commercial Strategy and Sales ExecutionStrengthening the sales model, responsibilities, sales process, forecasting, and execution.
  • 07Pricing, Margin, and Pipeline DisciplineImproving commercial control, opportunity qualification, pricing decisions, margin visibility, and pipeline management.
  • 08Distribution, Partnerships, and Channel DevelopmentDeveloping existing channels, opening new distribution relationships, and building strategic commercial partnerships.
  • 09Market Entry and International ExpansionSelecting priority markets, building entry plans, establishing local relationships, and creating repeatable expansion models.
  • 10Leadership and Management DevelopmentSupporting management, recruiting key roles, strengthening leadership capacity, and reducing founder dependency.
  • 11Acquisition Review, Due Diligence, and IntegrationEvaluating acquisition opportunities, supporting negotiations and diligence, and integrating acquired businesses after closing.
  • 12Transaction Readiness and Strategic ExitsPreparing companies, management teams, information, data rooms, buyer positioning, and transaction processes.

What the Work Should Create

The result should be visible in how the company operates.

Management should have clearer responsibilities and better information. Decisions should be made faster. Commercial performance should be easier to measure. Core processes should become repeatable, and accountability should be clear across the organization.

Over time, the company should become more structured, more scalable, and less dependent on individual founders, owners, or key employees.

This creates stronger operating and financial control and a better foundation for continued growth, long-term ownership, future acquisitions, or a strategic transaction.

We buy companies to own them, not to flip them.

Capital is the starting point. The work is operating structure, commercial execution, and accountability — carried out with the people already running the business.

Ways We Work

Different companies require different ownership structures and different levels of involvement.

01

Control Acquisitions

We acquire control when direct ownership is central to the investment case and we are prepared to take responsibility for the company's next stage. Our involvement may include governance, management support, commercial development, operating improvement, and direct executive responsibility where required.

02

Long-Term Holdings

We own and develop selected businesses for as long as continued ownership remains the best course for the company and the group. There is no requirement to sell a strong business simply because a certain period of time has passed.

03

Selected Minority Investments

We invest selectively alongside founders and management teams where our capital, network, governance, and operating involvement can support the company's next stage of growth. Where appropriate, the investment may include board involvement or a clearly defined operating mandate.

04

Strategic Transactions

We manage exits from our own portfolio and selectively undertake external sell-side M&A engagements where a structured transaction is the better solution.

Strategic Transactions

When a Sale Is the Better Outcome

Not every good company should become part of our portfolio, and not every company we own should be held indefinitely.

Some owners are looking for succession. Others have built a strong business but need the right strategic or financial buyer to support its next stage.

In selected situations, LXN prepares and runs a structured sell-side M&A process. Our involvement extends from transaction preparation and buyer positioning through due diligence, negotiations, signing, and closing.

Each engagement is selective and governed by a written scope. The objective is a controlled process, credible buyer engagement, and a well-executed outcome for the owner and the company.

Questions from Owners and Advisers

Companies with established demand, sound underlying economics, and clear room for better execution. We are sector-agnostic and active across Europe and North America. The full profile is set out on our acquisition criteria page.

Often, but not always. We take control positions, selected minority positions, and structures where an owner stays involved. The right structure depends on the company and on what the seller wants after closing.

We invest our own capital and are not bound by a fund life or a fixed exit date. Strong businesses can stay in the portfolio indefinitely, and our involvement is operational rather than purely financial.

In selected situations, yes. We prepare and run structured sell-side M&A processes, from preparation and buyer positioning through diligence, negotiation, and closing. Each engagement is selective and governed by a written scope.

We review the situation ourselves and come back with a direct answer on fit. Initial conversations are handled discreetly and are non-binding.
